Our sermon this Sunday was taken from Matthew 5:1-12.
As you read or listen consider these discussion questions:
- Give an example of a comforting witness you could offer to someone who is mourning (death, guilt, divorce, job loss, etc.) so that he or she might be blessed.
- What are some ways you could be a peace keeper this week?
- Why do you watch NASCAR races, hockey games, or the Running of the Bulls? Is it really wrong to find entertainment in the misfortune of others - e.g. America's Funniest Home Videos?
- How have you been persecuted because of Jesus? How have you been blessed because of it?
- Someone asked you, "Is it hard to be good all the time?" How would you respond?

An example of a comforting witness after the death of a parent who was Christian might be...
I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I know that grandma was a wonderful woman. Know that she's not suffering anymore with her cancer. Jesus took away her sins, and now even her suffering. She is home with her Lord! You will see her again on the last day. Look forward to that day!
